Character bios part 1: The main three

Teri

Teri's very much an ordinary young woman, one without a great many ambitions. Like many of her generation, she just wants a simple, untroubled life without trials and tribulations. She's the quiet type, likes going to the movies and eating out with her friends (of which, unfortunately, she has only few) and hasn't been in a steady relationship since Junior High. She isn't exactly rich, but her office job pays well enough that she can afford herself some small luxuries, and since she lives in a small house her grandmother willed to her, she is quite comfortable with her lifestyle. However, the one thing she isn't comfortable with is her body. She considers her breasts too small, her hips too wide and her belly too chubby, and even though she works out at a gym regularly, her figure doesn't really seem to change for the better. This depresses her quite a bit, especially because she feels overlooked by the rest of the world. Just a little more attention and recognition, and Teri would be happy - or so she thinks...

Mel

Age: 24
Job: Fitness coach
Hair: Light blonde
Eyes: Blue
Cup size: C

Unlike Teri, Mel is perfectly comfortable with both her body and her life. That is quite extraordinary as she not only has a job that requires her to work Mondays to Saturdays from ten to ten but also something that makes her stand out from other young women her age: a penis. Strangely, that doesn't seem to affect her life much; if anything, it makes it more interesting for her. She considers herself a normal, fun-loving woman (though one sexually attracted to both genders) and doesn't behave much different from other people her age, maybe a little more liberal in terms of intimate relationships. Her hobbies mostly revolve around sports and working out, though she's an occasional big eater. Mel's a very relaxed, balanced person whose only real character flaw is that she doesn't see much reason to behave "responsibly" in a traditional way. After all, if what she does has no consequences for people other than herself, why should she worry?

Emma

Age: 22
Job: Office worker
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Green
Cup size: E

Emma works in the same office as Teri, and both consider one another best friends almost from the day they started working together. They have a great deal in common, starting with their age - Emma's exactly a day younger than Teri. They both prefer their lives quiet, they both like the same kind of movies and music, though Emma's a bit of a bookworm where Teri only occasionally reads a bestseller if the book gets good reviews. Like Teri, Emma's also unhappy with her body, though she would be perfectly happy if she had Teri's body - she is very uncomfortable about the attention she is getting for her huge breasts and constantly tries to hide them under thick sweaters, even in the hottest summer. Financially, even though she earns the same as Teri, she has more expenses and often has to struggle to make ends meet at the end of a month. But with a friend as close as Teri, she probably has nothing to fear: Teri would gladly bail her out, come what may. Nothing can come between these two young women... or can it?

Q&A

1. What's the main conflict? Is about Teri's efforts to become physically fit? Is it about her relationship with Mel develops? Something else?
The mail conflict is about Teri getting to grips with her own self-image, her confidence with her body and how her relationship with Mel and her other friends affect that, and vice versa. In fact, the relationships between Teri, Mel and the other characters are the focus of the story. The fitness angle is there, but it's not really emphasized. The real question is, with Teri's issues, would she really be happier if her body looked differently?

2. Where will you sell it?
For lack of alternatives, we will probably resort to DLSite. I originally thought about crowdfunding (and thus self-publishing) with the help of Offbeatr, but that site is mostly about real-life porn, not for drawn/written media. (I think I saw about four H manga projects there, and four or five games that would have fit into the category, which wasn't exactly encouraging.)

CtrIf you know of any good alternatives, though, I'm still more than open to suggestions.

3. Emphasis on story, gameplay, NSFW content... or somewhere in the middle?
Emphasis on story, mostly the comedic and relationship aspects, with NSFW content going a strong second. Erotic writing has always been one of my strengths, but it's really difficult describing sexual acts in length without becoming either corny or boring. There's only so many oohs and umphs you can string together, you know, and changing position eighteen times during one fuck reeks of bad gonzo porn.

I'll be going for two true NSFW scenes per chapter (except the first, that only has one climactic moment (pun intended)) and probably a lot more sticky situations where the comedy takes a turn for the lewd, though never explicit or even very stimulating. That's also going to be the only "gameplay aspect" of the whole thing - you get to choose between different variations of the NSFW. Don't expect the choices to have a great impact on the plot, though. This isn't Ever 17.

4. Are there any other important characters?
Oh yes, there are quite a few, and I'm going to introduce them one by one in the next few days. Just stay tuned for more info!

5. So this is a porn game?
Uh, no. It's a game about romantic and intimate relationships between young adults, some of which have issues with their appearance even though they shouldn't and some of which have no issues with their appearance even though they should have reason to. There will be explicit scenes because I don't think you can realistically show romantic relationships between consenting adults without also including their sexuality (unless you were showing adults who consent not to have sex, but from my experience, I find that much more far-fetched than the other way around). However, if it's seeing people have sex you want, you may not really want to wade though paragraphs and paragraphs of seeing these same people in amusing, embarrassing or romantically dramatic situations having no sex at all.

Think of it as of the Game of Thrones TV series, only with less blood and more comedy. It's certainly not porn, but you would probably not be comfortable having your 12-year-old daughter watching it.

Meet Teri! She's 22, single, and very much struggling with her looks. Mel's a fitness coach at the health club Teri regularly goes to. Not only does she thinks Teri's a little overreacting, she also has a dick - and still no problems with her own looks. She thinks that poor Teri needs some help and decides to administer that help.
